    hello,
    i have a dell inspiron N7010 laptop.. i get a high pitch noise from it especially when i open "My Computer"..i need to keep the speakers in mute to work further otherwise the noise is intolerable...i restarted the system but still the noise persists... please help me in getting rid of this noise..

    my OS is windows 7 (64 bit)
    the processor is Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 450 @ 2.40GHz

    when did it start? What happens when you play music? Are there any times it's not squealing? Just trying to help you offer the gurus' here more info so they can help trouble shoot for you. How old is the machine?

    thank you guys.... i went to control panel> sound> playback> speaker> properties> and then muted the microphone and "pink in" volume there.... then the noise didnt come... those should be in mute right???
