I received the vostro 1500 on saturday.

Can anyone who has already received it tell me if there is much give in the screen. Mine can be moved forwards and backwards without much force but also shakes slightly on it's hinges and makes a buzzing noise when the screen is at certain angles. I have phoned Dell and an engineer is coming out on thursday. Am I just being too picky about it's looseness or does anyone else have this problem?

    Thanks

I have the buzzing sound too, I emailed them about it but no reply yet - its very loud when the screen isnt at full brightness!

As for the hinges, mine is very tight, I have to hold the base of the laptop down when opening the screen otherwise the whole thing starts lifting up. One other problem tho, the lid still has some movement in it when its closed - does yours?

Same here: very tight hinges, and a little 'clackityclak' when closed.
As for the buzz, it seems to me it comes from the body of the laptop. I will try later to see what happens at different angles and different brightness levels.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Yep, my lid also shakes slightly when closed. I assumed it was due to my dodgy hinges but I now realize it could be poor build quality

OK I just been on the phone with tech support for 50mins, after making me reseat the power cable, battery etc hes sending an engineer out to my house tomorrow with a replacement LCD. They said this is the first theyve heard of the buzzing screen noises, altho there are quite a few posts on here about it.
