Holy crap, i just checked the dell website and it said my order is shipped.. that's pretty amazing if it really is, since my estimated delivery date was 9/18ish..
I don't know if this is real or not! I'll have to wait and see.\
EDIT: it is really shipped! i just checked the tracking number and it's coming on the 15-17th. wow, i am amazed! thanks dell. muahahaha

Congratulations dude!
-
Congrats man!
-
really? Thats damn fast!
-
yeah, looking at everyone's delays, i was really a bit disappointed that it would take so long. luckily, it only took a mere week! i am really glad and i really hope everyone else will get their's soon as well too!
-
wooooooooooohooooooo
-
congrats to you, but dell is the biggest douchebag of a company i've ever experienced. I absolutely love how their slogan on tv is 'yours is here'. Note to Dell: No it's not.
-
Because of this problem they are the biggest douchebag company you've ever experienced? Just out of curiosity, how old are you?
And on an on-topic note, awesome that your (guy who started thread) is shipping out. -

Say for instance that in the span of a week, Dell gets 5000 orders for laptops (these numbers are for the sake of argument), with the order number starting at 1 and going to 5000. Now say that 1000 of those laptops are the EXACT SAME specs, but the order they came in at is spaced randomly from order #1 to #5000. Dell will build those 1000 laptops in a group, regardless of their order number. Why? Because it is a thousand times more productive and efficient to build 1000 of the exact same laptop than 1000 laptops having completely different specs. Now they will do the same thing will any other batches of laptops that share the same specs, grouping all of that days/weeks orders into those types of categories. THAT is why some many people who may have ordered their laptop weeks before someone else is still in the build stage, while that other person ordered theirs weeks later and got it within days. It all comes down to production schedules and production line efficiency.
Any number of things will cause orders to be built out of sequence, and I'm talking hundreds of different things. Time of day, plant staff strength, materials availability, financing issues, when the guy taking the order gets his information processed, who did it, computer issues (such as large scale hardware or network failures), ANYTHING. -
If the Dell reps actually presented themselves with the information such as yourself, I'd be satisfied with that and take the delays. However, when the reps go lead me around, wasting my time and providing misleading information, that's where I have the problem. -
...So, yeah, Mr Anderson, we are very pissed at dell at this moment! -
I agree with you guys, the reps are what is REALLY pissing people off. If they would actually tell people what they know and don't know, instead of constantly "assuring" people of this or that, I'm willing to bet a lot less people would be as upset as they are.

My expected delivery date is August 15, so I haven't complained yet. The CSR I ordered from said I would receive it in 5 to 10 business days. Obviously, since this was verbal, I don't have a leg to stand on. As it stands, it's August 12th and the laptop is still 'in production' (and has been since a few hours after I ordered on the 16th).
It's just a really annoying process that is made worse by dell's inconsistency. I wasn't a Dell hater before, but I doubt i'll go through this the next time I buy a computer. Going to the store is easier. -
When Dell says, "Yours is here" they mean it!
Parts of our laptop are just sitting around waiting for some Asian to put it together. Since they are underpaid (and underworked since they can do anything with such wide shortages) they are sitting there thinking, "Hehe...it ain't yours while it is here. It is mine! Get me some more tea!" -
not bad considering i ordered my 1420 on 7/13, and im expecting it this tues.
the weirdest was how it was delayed and then magically shipped. read my sig for the specifics. -
ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, it was delivered today to my house, but nobody was home to sign it.
though, that makes it a total of 6 days to get to my house
i'm in arizona, and i won't be back in california 'til tomorrow night! gotta call my dad to ask him to be home during the time to sign it.
holy.. is it really shipped?!(my 1420)
