    hey all
Just wondering has anyone hooked their laptop up to their TV? I was told all i need is a S-video cable and a RED/WHITE lead audio cable. Is there any advantage to this other than watching movies on the TV? I would imagine that doing any work would be hard.

I haven't hooked up my I9300 to the TV, but I did do it with my previous laptop. Well it is for like slideshows, some people game on their TV's like that.

If you don't have a HDTV the text is really hard to read, really blurry. I would recommend the DVI-D to HDMI if you are looking to do stuff on a HDTV unless you have a VGA in or a DVI - in port.

Yes the red/white audio cable will plug into the headphone jack so you can get the audio, I did this when I was in Italy and hookup my computer to my surround sound...really nice.

The svideo quality is not the greatest in the world. You can run only 640x480 or 800x600. Your movies are not going to be clear if you do watch through svideo. I say stick to the good old dvd player.

hardest part is playing with the resolutions ... that's a recall from when I bought my first rear-projection big screen (50" widescreen toshiba). It was a major pain to adjust everything and even when I was done, icons were a little blurry. This was going from a Radeon 9700pro (back in 03) dvi out to a dvi in.

This XPS 140, db15 out into db15 in on my 42" Plasma... flawless. Makes it easier to watch my legally downloaded video files. ;) Having the MCE remote helps out as well.

Audio, wish it had an optical output of some sort. I'm using analog and well.. it's noticable. 'Course, the videos aren't top quality anyway.

My SFF home systems (barebones) are on their way. I'm building 2 small form factor desktop systems to prepare moving into my home when I'm thru remodling it. One will be a Tivo rig. I plan to run Snapstream on it. I'll post results in proper forum when I run a full test on the whole thing. The SFF systems have optical in (front) and out (rear) to pipe that digital audio signal to the 6.1's.

    Wish this XPS had that.
