I just want to let you guys know I am having very hard time getting hold of anyone at dell india customer support since last 5-6 days. whenever i call 1-800-425-8045 (Toll Free - From BSNL lines) or 080-25068032 / 080-25068033 (Toll numbers), they transfer my call which is never picked up even after 30-40 minutes hold. I am desperately trying to get hold of someone since last 5 days its always been like that. I even told lady i want to talk to moderator but she refused to talk to me and don't even bother replying and told me to keep call on hold for 30-40 minutes then may be i get hold of some one and just transferred the call.

About 18 months back I bought inspiron 1420 from dell India and also bought 3 years complete cover for 3 years by paying $450 extra. If you are not aware ALL DELL INSPIRON DELL COMPUTERS having Nvedia Geforce 8400GS chip have this problem where chip gets fried after few years for no reason. Once fried your computer won't turn on at all.

I call dell customer support on 20th july 2009 and was given 790501767448 tracking number and was told an engineer would arrive within 2 days with shipment. It has been 9 days now and nobody has arrived and they don't even pick up my call. I also emailed dell asking for status update on 25th july 2009 ( Case ID: 2094471) but no body has yet replied my email.

Because of me dell has received order for more then 10 laptops because people around me consider me as computer expert and I have to make decision for several of my clients as well.

After this incidence I will think twice ordering dell because if something goes wrong dell will only give run around and i might just need to throw laptop in sea.

is it possible to get it fixed without dell customer support? I have important encrypted data which is attached to operating system installed on laptop, i have to pull out that data because i never saved windows vista user keys which is required to open encrypted data.

yes Dell india is horrible indeed..

i am not having any problems with my laptop.. but dell india service is just horrible.. they never reply to email or you get one after 4-5 days.. and that too a small one line reply which never answers the question..

and even call support is horrible.. have to wait more than 30mins on line to speak with some id!ot who does not know anything.. and later the call gets disconnected after 2min speaking with them

i was finally able to get some one to talk to after 30 minutes hold. tech engineer said the part was not available in my area and has to be shipped from singapore to mumbai and i must receive call from engineer within 24 hours. Its already near to 24 hours and i am yet to receive any call. They also never replied to my email, i guess, dell india email support is just hoax.

does anybody have experience with HP notebook service centres in mumbai?

If you want to replace the computer you could probably buy an external drive cover for your disk, pull it out, and then attach it to another computer to pull out the important files. That is, assuming your hard drive is okay. What exactly is wrong with your computer?

i know that, but until you have windows vista business keys all encrypted data will remain useless. Make sure to backup your keys.

Okay, I received replacement part yesterday and today wipro/dell engineer came and fixed the laptop.

Now its working fine. Overall, the only horrible experience was dell india phone support waiting queue, i was put on hold for 30-40 minutes 4 times and my emails was not responded but they did fixed the problem in 11 days.

I will continue to do business with dell and will highly recommend them.
