    how badly do i need a better warranty on a 1520?

    I am about to buy my Inspiron 1520 but i am unsure of how good of a warranty i need.

    Right now i have it configured to be around 820$ (after coupon) and with the standard 1yr warranty. Do i really need a better warranty or is the build quality of the 1520 good enough that i shouldnt need one?

    Oh yeah and before i buy one, is there ANY better gaming laptop for 825$ and under that can beat these specs?

    Core 2 2.00 ghz
    1gb RAM (will be upgraded to 2 or 3)
    8600gt
    80gb 5400rpm HDD

    If you want it to lasts around 5 yrs, I would get a 3 yrs warranty at least. Otherwise, I would get 2 yrs warranty. The build quality of consumer laptops is not as good as business class laptops, so you better take good care of the 1520.

    if you do not mind a refurbished computer, it is about 100 cheaper in the dell outlet

    well right now im using an Emachines M6805, and it has performed adequitely for me, its around 4 years old now and hasnt had any major problems(besides the LCD, which is a known issue with the m6 series)

    im thinking if my emachines can last me 4 years, my new dell should be able to last me at least that long right?

    Anyone who has ever sold electronics on commission knows that there are BIG commisions on extended warranties for electronics.

    Ask yourself this....How can they pay a 50% or MORE commission and still cover the repairs?

    Also ask yourself this. What could break on the laptop that would need to be repaired? How much would it cost for you to fix this IF it breaks? Would you be able to afford to fix it if it does break? Prices keep getting cheaper and cheaper on ram, hard drives, and processors.
