    how do i keep downloading while my laptop is shut?

    well i want to download some files but its going to take a while so i want to leave my laptop on over night but the screen will keep me up since its on so is their anyway to keep downloading while the lid is closed?

    open up power Mgr and find the option where it says "when i close lid" and then select "do nothing"

    Keep in mind that the laptop will get a lot warmer quicker when the laptop lid is closed with the LCD still on.

    Instead of closing the lid, just create custom power scheme that turns of the display.

    I don't get how it will make it a lot warmer, quicker? there should be no vents closed? In fact if the laptop is only downloading then it should just run nice and cool all night!

    tphilly, my e1705 has vents on either side of the keyboard. Closing the lid while the laptop is still running would definitely cause my laptop to heat up.
