I have seen people talking about how warm their laptops get and I recently bought a Dell mini 1012 and have searched around the Win 7 Starter setup with no success locating a utility that would offer machine temperatures. Any help or advice is much appreciated. :D

I use HWMonitor to view the temperatures.

Win 7/Vista side bar on CPU useage
Add on Coretemp and it then gives temps too.

Sure beats turning the lappie over and using a bit of vaseline...

Yeah, I like HWMonitor too. I've found that some newer versions are kind of... lacking, though.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I got a Gear head Laptop cooler I picked up for $13 bucks at Big Lots today and it's running the mini much cooler so I feel much better about it. :)

Well it's still a good idea to monitor your internal temperatures, sometimes the heat in netbooks can be felt through the palmrest and may feel uncomfortable.

But buying a cooling pad is a good investment and will make your netbook last longer down the road.

SpeedFan is a good program, but I wouldn't mess with the fan settings as they mess with the registry. Doing so can cause harm to your OS.

HWMonitor should be fine with a netbook, I don't know about the latest version specifically.

Okay then HWMonitor it is. Thanks Tsunade!

Got a question on chatting, can I use trillian on the mini as is before a RAM upgrade? Or should I stick with the web based meebo.com? Thanks for all your help. :D
