how fast are the white inspirons shipping? thinking or ordering one

The title of the thread says it all. I'm considering ordering another laptop in white. Same specs as my pink 1720. The downside is that it's going to cost more. I don't want to cancel my pink order. I figure I'll just take whichever laptop gets here first, and cancel the other one. Hopefully pink (the cheaper one) will get here first. I'm not gonna order just yet. I'd like to see some responses here first.

 

In a month or two order times will likely be back to normal. It's all the back to school rush that started mid-early summer that threw Dell behind (well that and some poor planning on their or their suppliers part). That rush should be over in 30-60 days. As long as you are prepared to wait an extended period of time again, you could go ahead and order it. It's pretty much been confirmed that it's not just the color that is delaying the laptops, the screens themselves are starting to be in short supply also.

I ordered the Alpine White Inspiron on the same day you ordered your Pink. Mine is now in "boxing". Not sure if that is helpful or not.

I was going to order pink, but I was told I wouldn't be allowed at my fantasy football and baseball draft if I bring a pink computer. I'll have to find a pink bag just to make them mad!

I ordered a laptop 2 years ago in early July, and had it within 10 days. I think the major thing right now is that supply is just not meeting demand.

I keep seeing people ordering Jet Blacks onlike 8/6, and they're already getting them or are in the boxing stage. I'm wondering (since there doesn't appear to be a delay on white right now, if that would be the case for me). All I know is that I need a new laptop now (my current one is on the rocks).

 

mine just went to boxing stage today if there are no further problems, it should be here by next week the latest (meaning a week beforethe actual estimated delivery date!)

 

Looks like you ordered the same thing I did, just a different color.
I'm gonna give mine til the end of the week, then I'm gonna place a second order. Something's gotta give!!!

White and Black do not show delays currently on the Dell website. That doesn't mean that they won't be delayed, but it's a safe bet. I wanted blue so I was willing to wait. As it turns out, I didn't have to wait long, I ordered on 8/8 and should receive it on 8/20 or 8/21 since it has shipped. So 12-13 days total for me. That's not bad at all. There are others who ordered blue who seem to be in a complete time warp and their systems are still in the "build" stage because they ordered a higher resolution screen. My suggestion is order what you want, and if it doesn't end up in the "boxing" stage within a week, consider cancelling and reordering if you need it that fast. If you're not a high resolution nut like some of us, stick with the standard screen and you'll have better chances (just my .02).

 

Mine has shipped!!! I'm so excited!

I was upgraded to next business day, so I'm hoping that means I will receive it tomorrow! I sure hope so. The shipping data isn't available yet, I'll post again once it is.

 

I've pretty much decided to give it til tomorrow to get out of the build stage. If it's not, then I'm most likely gonna order a second one, and just see how it goes from there. I ordered the anti-glare screen b/c I don't like the reflection off of the glossy screens, so I'll order that again - same specs, just a different color.

 

I had a fairly quick turnaround with my order - seen in sig.

 

I just ordered a white one just like my pink one, except for I didn't get the webcam with the white one. No biggie. I hope I get a fast turnaround. We'll see!

 

Wow, I checked my email 2 minutes after submitting my order, and got my email from Dell containing my order number. I immediately called the order status number (just for kicks), and it says it's already in the build stage?

 

My shipping information posted, it looks like it indeed is set to ship next business day. So perhaps tomorrow I will be posting from my new 1720!

 

I haven't heard anything other than build from the 800 number, but I know I haven't been waiting that long... I'm hoping to hear something by next week, but I didn't look at the delays this Monday to see what actually caused them. I have no idea if they were there when I ordered or not...

 

my advice would be to wait it out. all lot of the inspirons have been going into boxing lately.

 

I already ordered a white one today. So I'll just keep a check on both orders to see which one gets out of "build" first, then cancel the other order.

I received mine this morning around10 am. I love it!!!!!

If it's any consoloation, if you do happen to get the white instead of the pink, keep this in mind... you can't really see the color when you are working on it anyhow. I don't have pictures of it, but it looks like it was advertised it would look. It is pretty big though... I think I'm going to have trouble finding a sleeve that fits properly.

I love having the 10 key pad, that is a nice addition, and one of the reasons I had hesitated going to a notebook instead of a desktop. I have to manage several large databases for work, so this is a great feature for me.

I was pleased that the shipping upgrade that they gave me came through. I wasn't sure that it would because in one of the online chats I had with Customer Service they said they would notate it, but I would need to speak with the order modification department to ensure that it would go through. I never did call there because I was afraid that it would put me at the end of the line, and I just couldn't afford to have that happen.

 

Well I am in shock and AWE!

I cancelled my Flamingo Pink 1720 order yesterday 8/16 after a 7 week delay.

I placed another order on 8/16 for a 1721 Alpine white (see sig) and what do you know????? The darn thing is in TESTING!!! I am so happy, I did not think I WOULD EVER here any other words except build.

Funny, the stages have gone like this for me....8/16 in pre-production then build. Morning of 8/17 kitting stage, 6:30pm now in the TESTING stage!

My order has an estimated ship date of 8/30 however... the CSR I ordered thru yestarday said it will probably ship as soon as 8/21.

So....I guess a Flamingo Pink 1720 was not in the cards for me...oh well...for what I do this will be more than sufficient.

 

I hope I'm that lucky. I ordered my white one on 8/15, and it's still in the build stage. I'm wondering if your processor is the reason you're getting yours quicker? UGH, I just want one of the things to hurry up and ship. I NEED it!!!

Quite possibly it may be the different processor who knows. Actually the only reason I canged from the Intel processor to AMD was by "over clock" with the configuration I had initally set up so he suggested for me to go with the AMD and assured me I would not be disappointed. I dont play games or anything like that so I am sure it will be fine.

 

Well it paid off!!! I ordered YESTERDAY, and it's in TESTING! It's the same configuration as my pink one, minus the webcam (I didn't HAVE to have that). I'm so excited! I'm gonna wait til I hear that it's in BOXING before I cancel pink tho. I just want to make sure that it's actually in the final stages before I go and cancel the other one (which is STILL in the blackholebuild stage.

Well...I am glad to announce that I am now in the BOXING stage!

So...8/16 Build, 8/17 Testing, 8/18 Boxing....Wow! Hopefully, I will get the darn thing sometime next week if all goes well. I will be so greatful and happy after this 7 week long ordeal to get my puter....I will tell ya that I will never order from Dell around school time again that is for sure.
