how long does building take?

i ordered a m1730 and on second day around 24 hours its already in building if nothing is on backorder how long will this take. Gotta love the phase game with dell

A question that may never be answered if asked of Dell. My laptop is supposed to ship tommorow, and it is still in the build stage. I still need to go to the boxing stage which takes God knows how long(average 3-4 days, but can go for weeks).

 

My Studio 15 was supposed to ship on Friday, but it's still listed as "in production". this has not been a fun experience as a first time notebook buyer.

 

I too am a first time notebook buyer and agree.

What date did Dell give you as a new shipping date?

 

That's the thing, it still is listed with an ESD of August 1. Ridiculous.

 

Give Dell a call and they should give you a new date.

Please post what they say.

 

I tried using their online "Chat with Us" thing where you IM with a customer service person and she told me "Unfortunately our systems are currently being upgraded which we do not have access to our tools at this time, I recommend that you be in contact with us later on today in order for us to offer better assistance"

I'll try again a little later.

 

They might not be able to answer you through the chat service anyway. I used it yesterday and they told me they were only able to discuss sales. The person did not even know what level of the process I was in. I was given the customer service number.

 

I just got off the phone with them, the ESD has been changed to August 7th. He said the 30th at first and I almost freaked cause that's when im moving out to university, and that would be a month and a half. But August 7th is the date he gave me.

 

Well that's good news. Another person posted before saying their date got pushed back a month.

 

I purchased on July 30 with an estimated ship date of aug 8.

I was told that the 6 cell battery was backordered to september and refused to wait that long. They told me the 4 cell was avilable now for the m1330. I went with that(downgrade without them giving me money back) just so I could get the laptop on time. I called today and they said my laptop is in permanent limbo and they would follow up with me every few days to give me a status. They said ALL of their batteries are on backorder because there battery plant burned down.

WHAT THE **** IS THAT????

Apparently my order has been bumped again. The estimated ship date (ESD) is now pushed into September. This new date, 42 days from when I ordered, is no longer acceptable. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by companies such as NewEgg, ZipZoomFly, and Amazon. I’ve grown accustom to receiving orders in days, not weeks, or potentially months.

I canceled my order this morning and plan to purchase another brand from a local retailer. This would have been my first Dell purchase. I am rather disappointed and can’t imagine placing another order with Dell in the future.

Oh no, I have identical stats except for the color and I ordered on the 26th. It was supposed to ship out the 6th but I was given a revised date of the 12th. Still in build stage. If it's delayed to September I'm canceling.​
