It'll last until one of the components finally fail. Could be anywhere from 30 days to 8 years. On average 2-5 years with that use, 365 days a year.

Better going with a 3 year complete care warranty if you plan on letting it work constantly.

Complete Care covers accidents like spills, drops and electricity shock but not normal wear off, but I could be wrong...

i always recommend to people, if they will be doing constant high powered work, get a desktop. laptops arent meant to be workhorses.

I had a Dell Inspiron 5000e I bought in late 1999 and its just died in July 2007 It was a 500Mhz 9Gig Hard drive and a ATI Rage Mobility 128 w/16MB SGRAM This screeming laptop was about $2800 and I ran it all the time.

Some people need their laptop to be a workhorse however.

Laptops are workhorses just like any other computer...

As long as you give it the proper care it shouldn't have any problems running for 1 hour or 24 hours in a day. The components will last about 80 years or so (not counting the HD and battery, of course)... I've used all my laptops in 24/7 capacities and I've never had one die on me yet...

I used to use one as a web server...

When I say proper care I mean having it on a table so it can cool properly and etc...
