i was just curious as to how many RAM slots are available on the 1530 NB?
most computers come with 2 slots of 1GB of RAM each, how many slots are on the 1530?

2
have yet to see a 15.4 with 4. -
Yeah, no real need for more than two given the availability of cheap, high dnsity DIMM's, and OS's that can't seem to find more than 3.5GB.
-
I heard both ram slots are located at the bottom instead of 1 inside, is that true?
-
Both are located on the bottom with one stacked on top of the other, and are easily accessible with the removal of 5 small screws.

there is a vedio in this forum shows you how to change them too ...

so... if i buy an xps 1530 with 2gb ram, both slots will be in use?
or ill be able to install another module on my own? -
Both will be in use.

so if you buy the XPS with 2GB of RAM youd have to take those two out if you want a 4GB RAM on your system. in that case it would best to buy
the XPS with 1 GB of RAM to save the most money. then in any case, you can also buy a single 2GB RAM to add to that 1GB RAM in your system already to get a 3GB RAM total. anyone agree? would this work? -
Yes, it would work, and if your running a 32 bit version of Vista, it might be your best bet considering32bit vista only recognizes 3.5gbs. you will lose most dual-channel support. but that's not a big deal.
Remember, if you order the laptop with 1GB of ram, it will come with 2 512mb ram modules.
Basically:
1GB = 2x512mb
2GB = 2x2GB.
I'm not sure if you can configure 1x1GB in the configuration on the XPS line. i know you can't on the inspiron line.
My suggestion, would be to order with 1GB, then buy 2x2GB and have 4GB's. with the price of RAM being so low, you could easily get that 4GB's for $60 ( $40 less than they'd charge you for a single extra GB).
Good Luck.
how many RAM slots on the 1530?
