Hi, I have a dell vostro 1500 and wondering how is the best way to clean the keyboard and touchpad of the vostro

I've used this laptop for a little while and it is starting to get a sticky feeling because of all the sweat accumulating on it.

I would also like to know this.

Also has anyone got a decent way of cleaning the finger-prints on the lid

I use Kleenex soaked with a liitle bit of water. They work great!

70% rubbing alcohol on a paper towel will work great. For the monitor, I'd use rubbing alcohol on a microfiber towel.

microfibre with a little bit of water. Just to clean the rear lid and bezel. Best to damp the microfibre and give it a wipedown.

wipe in circles, works for me, to minimise the watermarks from drying. Use a dry microfibre, or the dry part of the cloth, to do the drying.

    same for touchpad.

do remember, just a little damp-ness will suffice.

I wouldn't use paper towel at all. It's rough and could damage the finish on your laptop.

Stick to a damp microfiber cloth (as previously suggested) which is your best bet.

spit on the lid and smear it with your fingers. hahahahaha

sorry. I would suggest using a clean cotton shirt, that's been dampened and going around in circles on the lid. of course, you could just rip your shirt off.

The monitor it would definitely scratch, but it should be safe for everything else. I've never had a problem on a laptop finish. I have had problems with using too high percent alcohol- 90% or 99% will oxidize the plastic on my thinkpad

Personally I'm not willing to take that chance. :) If you're cleaning the screen with a microfiber cloth already, why not just continue on and clean the whole thing at the same time? Doesn't really make sense to use two different cloths to clean your laptop when one will do.
