    Hi,

i have just got a 15r se and i have purchased a caddy for a second hdd to replace the flimsy dvd drive that comes with it.

the thing is, the bezel on the old drive is quite thick and i do not want to break it whilst removing it - so does anyone have any idea where i can either get the bezel on its own, or how to remove it?

    many thanks!

ps. the 15r se is a very good laptop for the price!

You can get a small flathead screwdriver and carefully remove one tab and the other one will just come off.

Hi My name is Amar, I work for Social Media and Community Team at Dell,

With regards to your concern as I understand that you are trying to remove the optical drive bezel for which you can try the below mentioned steps.
    • Once you remove the optical drive next to the eject button you will find the emergency hole (insert a paper clip to loosen the bezel)
    • Place the optical drive upside down and Press the release latch which is on the right side to disengage and remove the optical drive door(Please check the attached picture for more clarification)
    • You can also click on the link attached below for more details

You can find many people selling many types of those on eBay. Just make sure the seller has a credible feedback before buying.

Btw, thank you, Amarnath. Your answer is very helpful for me to replace my laptop's optical bay. Does it void the warranty if I replace my optical drive caddy with the one for HDD/SSD?

I'm having the same issue. I can't remove the DVD drive bezel, I've tried to press the release latch, but nothing happens and I can't move the bezel. Any other ideas?
