received my vostro 1400 on thursday and been playing with it ever since, screens is almost perfect except for a little light bleed only visable on blackscreens, batter wobbles a little bit and am not concerned about that. Am very happy with it except the ugly gressy fingerprints it picks up. tried to wipe them with dry cloth and it doesnt work, slightly damp cloth dont work either, didnt try dish soap because it could damage the notebook. so any ideas?

Dry cloth. It's like a car. You gotta buff out the scratches, in this case the smudges.

may i ask whether the vostro finish is the same as the inspiron jet black finish??
thank you -
i used either eagle one spray car wax which worked great since it dries clear.. or being the case is plastic you can use a water based plastic or vinyl dressing like turtle wax's f21.. do not use anything that is oil based though since it will make it slippery... you may end up dropping it and getting the stuff all over everything.. the spray wax worked great i first put it on a microfiber cloth then gently applied it then used a dry microfiber cloth to buff it off all the prints came off..
yes the vostro and inspiron blacks are both the same they are the "matte black" even though dell calls the inspiron jet black its the same thing -
Note my experience is with the satin finish, but I found that a damn cloth and buffing it good gets the fingerprints out. Using a microfibre cloth should work even better.
I don't think I would be comfortable waxing my laptop.
how to remove fingerprints from vostro
