    No, I believe the Inspirons and Vostros only support their own Dell Travel Remote, which is made by Phillips. Other brands probably wouldn't work unless they come with a USB IR port or something. But then that would take away the "Travel" part of the remote.     It doesn't work. i confirmed it myself.
    HP's are not compatible with Dell laptops.

    The HP remote has alot more functions (Media Center, and power button to turn off the computer). Too bad the HP remote doesn't work.
