Yey, how can you enjoy sparkly screens, they are pain to look at for a long time. Yeah it has muscles, but I value my sight more than something I can change for better (Toshiba's TrueBrite is a heluva screen to be looking at, Sony's XBrite almost the same).

PS: Dell has only one screen that has very best color reproduction in their line and which does not have sparkles - the super 700m, but it is too small to be working on.

Hehehe, the guy at the Dell shop told me almost the same thing, but I don't argue with color blind people anymore. The screen is SHINY, it's like a super fine shiny bridal veil is thrown over it. Ah, well, there is nothing to explain if you don't see it. Just go to a CompUSA and look at TrueBrite Toshibas and put yer Dell next to it, maybe will help.

I'm selling my Gateway 7422GX to my parents and joining the happy masses of I9300 owners. When I was first looking for a laptop, I despised the concept of buying a Dell, but then this site corrected my misconceptions about so much of the hardware (so, Pentium-Ms aren't such a rip-off after all), not to mention introduced me to a wonderous thing called "coupon codes."

Don't get me wrong: I love my 7422GX. It's a terrific computer, with the most beautiful, pixel-prefect (albiet a bit dark) screen I have ever beheld, a dual-layer DVD+/-RW drive, a powerful processor, ample RAM and HD space, and a very stylish and modern look to it. But the darned MR9600 64MB GPU is such a strangling bottleneck to performance that I couldn't take it any more. Plus the HD is 4200RPM, the RAM is PC2700, and the whole lot is just about useless on battery. For someone looking for a bargain DTR notebook to do all manner of productivity, web browing, and even light to moderate 3D gaming and graphics work, it's a dream. But I'm a gamer, and I need a gaming machine, and this industrious, not-so-little Gateway regrettably wasn't it.

Before you ask, check the FAQ!
    --------------------
    Dell Inspiron 9300 (Waiting on a good coupon): Intel Pentium-M 1.86GHz Sonoma, 1.25GB DDR533 RAM, GeForce Go6800

Gateway 7422GX: AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 1024MB DDR RAM, 64MB Mobility RADEON 9600 (Going to my parents.)

AVERATEC AV3270-EH1: AMD Mobile Sempron 2800+, 512MB DRR RAM, 64MB (shared) S3G Unichrome

I return my Inspirion 9300 becuase each time i press the spacebar, my thumbs hit the bottom keyboard bezel. I prefer the Compaq x6000 - better keyboard. I am not play games, so this is great. If you play games, you need to get the i9300.

I usually use an external keyboard, but when I use the keyboard on my 9300 I have no problems with it.

I have no idea how anybody can use the keyboard on the x6000 for any length of time. Doesn't your right wrist feel the burn?

For those who don't know, Compaq designed the x6000 so that there is a HOT spot to the right of the touchpad that is well over 100 degrees. Just happens to be directly under where a person’s wrist would lay while typing. That was one of the reasons I returned my x6000 and have never looked back after getting my 9300. Not to mention crappy graphics on the x6000.... :dell:
