I am trying to use a microphone with my i6000d to record audio. I am unable to get a resonably load input level from the microphone. I have the Sound recording volume for the "Sigma Tel C-Major Audio" device set to its maximum level on both the Audio and Voice tabs of the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties in control panel.

The recording works however it just records at a very low volume that is difficult to hear on play back even at full volume. Has anyone else with a i6000 tried using the analog audio input for the microphone? Does anyone have any idea on how to improve the sound level? Would a USB microphone not suffer from these problems

In recording properties see if you can find a check box that says +20db Boost.

Yeah that helped a little bit.

I am not really that happy with the audio quality of the i6000d. I get a lot of background noise when listening to music with quiet sections.

Well all integrated notebook sound cards are crap. If you want to do some audio editing or serious music playing or movie watching you should get the PCMCIA-based Sound Blaster sound card.
