I bought an i6000 with a 2x256MB (DDR2 PC4200) RAM, I am going to upgrade the RAM. Should I buy a 2x512 RAM to replace both memory sticks?Or, should I just buy a 1x1024MB RAM stick? Since there are two memory slots, would it be ok leaving one slot empty if I buy a single 1x1024 MB memory stick? And would it affect the speed if I have a 1024MB stick in one slot and a 256MB in another?

And is it true that a large RAM has no performance enhancing effect on a GPU with dedicated memory?

I would buy a 1gb stick and save one 256 in there. It'll give you a higher number, not much but still it'll work. I'm sure going with the 2x512mb might be more expensive and going the other route will leave room if you ever want to drop in another 1gb piece down the road, since memory is getting more and more affordable. As for the memory not enhancing performance of the GPU, I would say yes and no. It won't add to your GPU memory, but it's speed and in conjunction of all your other parts, they all work together when you're playing a game or processing heavy files or whatever. It's still a major factor.

So, it will still work if the memory sticks in the two slots don't have the same sizes? Will having two memory sticks with different sizes have any negative effect to the computer's performance?

    No, it shouldn't.
