    How do I dissable the touchpad on my Inspiron 6000? I am using a wireless mouse instead

    uninstall the Alps Touchpad driver with Add/remove programs, i dont know it that will disable it, but it sure wont let it work properly

    You can disable it in the touchpad software itslef. Dell did not include a hardware button to disable it. Unless the touchpad is getting in the way of you typing, then I suggest you just leave it on.

    uninstalling the alps software won't disable the touchpad, the generic windows driver will still work. as well, the alps app has no function for disabling the touchpad.

    you can try disabling the device in device manager, but if you're already using a mouse, i'm not sure why you would be having problems with the touchpad.

    You are correct, I just checked my XPS and there is not an option to disable the touchpad, I just assumed that there was that option. Thanks for teh information, I will have to pass it along to anyone who asks this question.
