    Hi Everyone,
I have a 9100 with the DVD/CD-RW combo and the drive won't read any DVDs or CDs.. It makes clicking noises and seems like the drive itself doesn't have enough power to initiate the spining at the start. Because whenever I spin the CD before I shut the drive, it will read just fine. So, I just wonder if anyone know how to fix this problem or is it possible to get it fix somewhere? also what causes this difficulty. Thanks!! [|)]

Clicking noises generally are not good. I'm assuming this is no longer under warranty? You could buy a replacement from Dell, but that will likely be expensive. You could buy a drive and stick it in there yourself. It should be covered in the manual somewhere. Firmware and making it fit can sometimes be an issue. Is this a modular or fixed drive?

Thank you for your reply, I think it is a fixed drive.
