    I just got the new i9200 today, and the first impression i got was, man is this computer big. Then my mom came in and said , wow thats big why you get a big notebook!. Well it performs well. Its fast and i played a few games like The Sims 2 and NFSU2. I started to think, is this computer really too big? Should i return it? maybe exchange it for a 8600. Ack, but if i do exchange it ,ill be getting the 8600 which is smaller ( 15.4 inch screen from i9200 17inch , only 1.6 inch difference.) and dell might even put up a newer 8600 model in a few months. Im having real doubts about my buy, and im soooo confused.

    Specs are
    1.8 ghz pent m
    9700 ATI mobility
    768 ram
    17 inch screen WXGA+
    Big notebook, not for the mobile user. (* Some stupid random question : Does this 17inch screen give off alot of radiation? is it a risk to my health? ie. Brain Tumor? )

    The 8600 i might get is about 20 $$ more and its this
    2.0 ghz pent m
    9600 pro turbo ATI
    768 ram
    15.4 inch
    But this model looks ugly, grey and blue, looks kinda old and might be replaced with a newer version soon.
    Its smaller tho. i will have to wait longer to get it, since im going to school soon. Ill have to come back home to get it.

    Im a student and i play the ocassional mmorpg and games. I watch dvd movies and chat with friends. Im worried about the mobility of this notebook. Its a desktop replacment i know, and its suppose to be big and nice. I don't really think ill drag a notebook around much other than from home back to school. Give me some pros/cons on what you think i should do? Keep the i9200, or go for the return and get a 8200.

    i think you meant 8600 at the last sentence, but yea, you should return it. The new "Centrino 2" codenamed "Sonoma" should be released in a couple of weeks and it supports really sweet things like Pci-express and DDR2 (i think, its based on 915 chipset). So even though it just recently came out, you might soon find a 9250 or a 9300, or a 8650/8700, u know what i'm sayin? Also, the Pci express will benifit you because yo play high-quality games like sims nfsu2 etc and watch dvds. I would stay with a 17 inch model because that is the best for movies, games,but if dell sticks the 9200 and 8600 where they are, you can look at companies like Sony and possibly LG or Samsung, i forgot which one (it was the Sonoma video on CES at Cnet.com). Sony will be replacing the A series with a Radeon-M x600 and that is a 17 inch, if you can afford it, but the main point is you should return it because new notbook technology is right around the corner.

    If you are willing to wait about a month, you will have 2 new choices to pick from.

    * Inspiron 8600c * 1.8ghz Pentium M * 128 MB Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo * 2x512 MB DDR2700 SDRAM * 60GB 7200RPM HDD *
