I have tried contacting Dell about this issue, but they want me to send the laptop in for testing, and I need it for work every day, so I was wondering if any of you might have had this problem and have a solution as well.

the first thing I did to my laptop (1.73 ghz, 1 gb ram, 6800 go) was format it to take off XP home and all the dell installed junk.

after I reloaded XP pro, and installed all the latest drivers from dell's site, my FSB only runs at 216 mhz (using Aida32 to check)

I have every single update available from dell and now I'm just lost. is there a windows or BIOS setting that needs to be changed?

the 9300 uses ddr2 ram. you have to double the mhz readout to get the accurate bus speed.

reinstalling windows doesn't do anything to how your machine handles the RAM. that is a BIOS level function; the reinstall wouldn't have done it.

in fact, there shouldn't be a function, outside of some type of pinmod or something, that allows the user to mess with bus speeds.
