Anyone know why the price of the i9300 increased? I had configured one for $1355.55 shipped with the following specs:
Pentium M 1.86GHZ
512 MB RAM
100 GB 5400 Hard drive
17" Truelife
256 Nvidia
8x DVD-RW Double Layer
Wireless B/G and Bluetooth
Spare AC Adaptor
Carbon Fiber Color Snap cover
512MB flash drive
Dell Backpack
I was just curious, the price is about $150 more now. Thanks.

Depends on what battery they also have on it. It might have increased, but most of the time they will release a coupon for a bunch off like when I got the :750: from them. You might want to wait until tomorrow to check it out cause all of their promotions come out on Thursdays.
-
I forgot to mention that theprice I had was with a $750 coupon. I am just trying to figure out what increased to cause the $150.
-
Its true, the prices did go up by $150 on the i9300.
I had saved a system on my account on Sunday night that came up to $1400 exactly with all discounts and now when I went to purchase yesterday the price was almost $1559.
I called CS and there was nothing they could do even on a saved cart to get the price back down to what I wanted. -
Prices are probably going up because of the holidays. It could also be due to the new releases for next year.

I agree, what Dell might do, much like other places is offer higher coupons to offset that cost, Best Buy and Circuit City also do this around the holidays.
-
Sounds like a $1,000 coupon is coming! Well, at least I can hope.

Well it could be, but that is just speculation and I used to be in sales so I know all about rising the price and then releasing discounts to offset the price raise.
This is the scenario...I have a $2000 product and I raise the price to $2250. My normal coupons are for $500 dollars off, but with the holidays coming I raised the price and I am going to put up a $750 coupon, which gives me the same profit, but the customer sees that coupon and thinks they are getting a better deal than normal.
This is big stores do it. At least as far as my experience goes. Hope this helps clarify. -
That blows. Looks like I won't be ordering my i9300 I wanted then.

snyperx,
Wait until tomorrow and see what kind of coupons and deals come out, they change every Thursday, it might be worth it. If you find the upgraded coupon then it would bring it down to what you built it for originally. -
For what it's worth, any phone sales rep who says he or she can't do anything about pricing is either lying or mistaken. If you make it clear that you're really disappointed (not angrily disappointed, but sad because you can no longer afford the machine you want) and put enough honey in our voice, they really might be able to help you out. Just be really friendly and ask, quite simply, "I really had my heart set on this; is there any way you can help me out?" It won't work every situation (for instance, don't bother at a grocery store or most retail chains), but they can often work with you. Maybe, if nothing else, you might be able to get free shipping.
You should also make sure that it is, in fact, configured in exactly the same way.

I agree totally with USAFdude,
Dell will change there prices mearl everyday due to the market changing. And as SG said, since the holidays are coming up, there raising there prices because there selling more at this time and they will just make more money. But keep checking back with there site everyday to when you find a price you like. And when you feel like the price is low, take the buy because who knows, the next its more than likely to bounce back up again.

So far, very impressed. I've owned a dell since '98. Had an inspiron 5000 that I got in Feb. 01 & decided to upgrade just now. I think this will last another five years. Screen is nice and bright. This is a fast computer-- don't use it for gaming but have uploaded some pics from my digital camera and it does it real, real fast. -
Well crap. Looks like they just extended the $750 coupon again with the $150 price hike still in place. Looks like I won't be ordering until after the first of the year. I knew I should have pulled the trigger last week and ordered. Darn it!
-
I think the 2-year service and no handling charge is new today, but that larger coupon Santa was suppose to bring would have been nice.
EDIT: I was looking at the pre-configured page that offered the 2-year service. It doesn't apply to the 9300 in general it would appear. -
Well after configuring my 9300 for the past week a million times I found the best price so far.
If you go to advertised specials look at the flyer, then choose the 9300 with the pre discount price of $1389. Then configure to what you wanted.
It came up about $80 more than what the price was last week but better than the $150.
Plus they now have free 2 day shipping includes handling so that saves another $24. -
The 9300 system I config yesterday vs today is better. .
Same price but getting a better video card (x300 64mb vs x300 128mb) and a larger hard drive (60 vs 80) and still getting the free printer
I went to "as advertised" link on dell -
JD,
I did the same and was able to get down to $1319 shipped, the only problem is it is the 1.7 processor. I was hoping to get the 1.86 CPU, but the advertised specials do not have the option of changing the CPU. -
Well as of right now it looks like they are going to get rid of the free DVD upgrade and the Free Printer in exchange for the $100 off CPU upgrade.
Just tried to configure the 9300 and no DVD upgrade and no free printer. -
Looks like the deals just got worse as of today. Glad I pulled the trigger and purchased yesterday.
-
