It looks like Dell no loner offers the Go6800 as an option on the 9300.

All my "saved" configuration in my "dell shopping cart" went invalid last night, and now you only can chose between an X300 and an X300 with 64MB.

Apparently they realized the i9300 w/ go6800 was competing to closely with the M170 and E1705.

Bastards... I was hoping with the E1705 release the price would drop on the 9300, not that it'd get crippled.

    somebody tell me I'm wrong...

No, that's not the issue. There's a shortage of video cards form what I'm being told.

Hey...maybe they will announce that new cards are available for the I9300...maybe a 6800U or a 7800 would be nice. But I don't think that is going to happen. :D

i can't imagine them doing that. From what i've heard, the dual core isn't suppose to replace the current systems very quickly. I figure that with the announcement of dual core and the new year, alot of orders were placed with the 6800 card. That's just my guess though.

Awhile back they were doing this with the 7200rpm drives. They would only offer it at certain times during the month until they got a surplus in their stock. Now they offer it all the time.

If you really want to order your laptop right now, you could configure your laptop online, and then call dell to specifically request the 6800 card. I don't know if it will work or not, but we use to do this with the 7200rpm drive.

I notice that depemding on the configuration you can now get the 7800, just not on the bottom of the barrel systems. Last night anyway.

No idea. I checked out their higher end 9300, and it's still not offering the 6800 yet.

Isn't the 7800 a high end 6800? Is that too much?

the 7800 is a completly different chip then the 6800. i dont think the 9300 has the 7800, only the E1705 has it, but they are the same notebook with a new mobo.

The 7800 is being offered for the XPS M170 and E1705 as well as the 6800 go ultra is being offered on the M170. Still no sign of the 6800 card on the 9300 right now.

You might be able to if you configure just the basics and use the coupon if you live in the US. The E1705 is the same as the 9400, except it is offered under Dell's Home site instead of small business.

Don't like the dual core though... makes it expensive. Rather have the 1.86 ghz single core... But then again, that would make it an almost exact clone of the i9300...

Yeah, I'm really f*****g mad about that. I mean, why dosn't dell add the GeForce Go 7800 for the i9300 OR restore the 6800?! Seriousy, they should also let you choose the 128 RAM.... Cause no one that has a brain would buy RAM from Dell. I could save like $20-$30 bucks if there was the 128 RAM option...

not unless they start offering it with the 9300. Let me rephase that, you can't do that right now without voiding your warranty. There is a way to put the 7800 in, but you void your warranty.

Adding to what SG is saying. You can only upgrade the 9300 to the 6800 Ultra or the 7800 GTX. You can't upgrade it to the 7800 of the 9400, at least it's not known how to because no one has the 9400 to start with.

Like SG said, it will void your warranty. And the parts prices are high. If you procede, be expected to pay about $350-500 just for the parts.

This seem to be the process of upgrading.

I'm in Thailand and so when the 9400 starting showing up elsewhere I emailed Dell Thailand and was told they didn't know when it would be available. Less than a week later it was listed on the Singapore website, they don't sell Inspirons here in Thailand, so I also thought that meant a drop in price for the 9300. Instead it has disappeared from the website. Now it could just be that there isn't the market in the AP region for both products or portent of things to come elsewhere.
