Hello everyone. I have a inspiron 9300 and i noticed that the battery light ( on the upper right hand corner of the notebook) seems to light up quite frequently when my laptop is plugged in. Does this mean that it is always charging? If it is always charging while the battery is on, should i remove the battery when I plug in my laptop? Thanks for reading.

Once it hits 100%, it stops charging.

Batteries will lose charge even when not in use. Perhaps the computer is checking the battery status or performing a trickle charge when plugged in to keep it at 100%. Don't take out your battery when plugging in. There is more risk in damaging the battery or battery terminals if you were to do this frequently. Just ordered a 9300, so I'll see first had about the lights.

dont take out the battery. like what other people said, the battery will lose charge in the computer so once in a while it'll flash charging it back to 100% (trickle charge). also if you take out your battery, the battery will lose power and will degrade even faster so i suggest you keep it in.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will follow your advice and leave the battery in the laptop. The funny thing is that my batter never reaches 100%, seems like its max is 97%. I guess this is just the battery wear effect that somepeople talk about, even though I just got my laptop last week. Also is it normal for the battery light on the upper right hand corner to light up about every 5 seconds?
