I've been digging through threads and I dont think anyone has posted something this specific. Depending on the auction price, I think Im about to upgrade my I9300 centrino from 1.6 ghz 533mhz to 2.0 or 2.13 (self upgrade and open the case myself)

my original system configuration came with dual channel 1gb 533mhz, 80gb 5400, 6800go, and the other originals

Im pretty sure its safe to say that the 1.6 centrino 533mhz has the same exact cpu pin count/design as the 2.0 and 2.13? Im 90% sure this board is the one that supports all the cpus from 1.6 to 2.26. the power supply should be enough to power all the ones from 1.6 to 2.26 as well.

using this guide, im looking for cpus with the same model numbers as the bottom few of the list. I think these cpus are the universal pentiums that work in many laptops.

Im going through all this hassle because I really need it now. Considering it may be a <$200 upgrade, I think its fairly affordable and a considerable jump in clock speeds.

All Pentium M Sonoma processors (533MHz FSB, 2MB L2) have the same pin count. Your 730 can be upgraded to a 740, 750, 760, 770, or 780 without any problems.

I assume you're talking about eBay - they do have some great deals on Pentium M's. The 770's go for under $200. The 780's are more sought after and go for around $280-$320.
