Hey guys, I just got an i9300 for 1425+ shipping with the specs in my sig... the upgrade to 2gigs cost me $120. So total would be $1545+shipping. Do those specs match up well dollar for dollar against a 1.83GHz Core Duo with 1gig of ram? I do alot of graphic/web design so I know that the dual core would have been helpful, but does the 2gigs with the 2.0Ghz PM hold up well? I live in Florida so the pleasure of ordering from Dell with the $750 coupon is killed by the tax (got the 9300 brand new off eBay). :decision:Thanks!

Actually you sound like someone that would actually benefit from the Cor Duo, most people won't. I think you'll be fine with the 9300, but if I had to make the call today, I'd take the e1705. It's up to you whether or not the hassle of sending it back is worthwhile. Plus, there are fewer deals on the e1705, at least right now anyway.

Brian, would you suggest sending it back and waiting a few weeks for a deal on the e1705? How much faster do you think it would be based on the software I'd be running (Photoshop CS2, Studio 8, etc.)? I'd probably lose about $80 if I shipped this one back.

Any other opinions?

I don't think it would be a lot faster, it would jsut let you run two intense programs at the same time more fluidly. So it's not like you can design any faster, but it would be with less frustration and waiting. If that's worth $80 to you, I don't know.
i9300 vs. e1705...
