    Hey all

I just wanted to post and say I am the happy new owner of my Inspiron 9400. My first new Laptop in over 4 years and only my second ever!

It wook one week from order to my door. Not too bad in retrospect. Of course a week ago that seemed like an eternity.

It came last night when I was at school, was delivered around 9:30pm. But oh did I have a scare. I had been checking the UPS status online and it around 9pm said RESCHEDULED for the 14th. I was not happy! So I go home on the train all bummed thinkign I will have to go wait through a whole nother day at work. Then I get home and there's the box on the bed!!

I love it though I have not gotten too much time with it. The screen size is gorgeous and huge. This will make a great portable DVD player.

I wasn't going to format at first but then decided too. I actually brought the thing to work with me and am formatting and installing windows right now.

One thing I am not sure about concerning network card drivers. Which ones do I need? I went to Dell and use my service tag but it still lists like 10 drivers. I am pretty sure I have th wireless card (Intel) drivers right, but I dont even know which 10/100 wired card I have. I will have it disabled most of the time anyway but might need it incase my wireless network goes kaboom.

Back to work. Thank you all who helped me when I got my system with your great information.

you'll need all the drivers, not just the network ones. for the network drivers specifically, you'll need the wifi and nic drivers; the cards that came with the system.

I am having alot of trouble with Bluetooth! I can not get it to connect to anything. I am only using the Microsoft/Windows BT drivers and I don't know what I am doing wrong, but it wont connect to anything, my V270 BT Mouse or even find my cell phone.

What am I doing wrong? What could I be missing?

Nevermind, I got it figured out.

I have not did the software yet, aside from Windows since I am at work and cant the 9400 online here. As far as games go, it will just be World of Warcraft to start. My time is limited today for school. Tomorrow will be better. I'm gonig to do what I can though tonight. I'm downloading all the drivers I want/need one by one from Dell's site.

Just got mine today as well. Only 1 problem so far, the "w" key on the keyboard is stuck down but still works. Dell is sending me a replacement keyboard which i guess isnt too hard to do yourself.

My superpi time for 2m was 1:12 with the dual core 2.0ghz. How much will ram affect this? Im ordering 1 or 2 gb from newegg tonight.

You've got a great Super Pi for what you've got. Mine was 1:15 and I've got the T2500 2.0 Ghz Duo and 2 GB 667 Mhz Memory. Maybe because my computer is loaded with a lot of software and Dell junk - that's why it's slow. I'm runing several license servers and Win XP mods from Visual Studio 2005 that are probably slowing me down.

How much did you pay for your system?
