    inspiron 1454 factory settings

    can some one please help i have the above laptop with a failed hard drive it is stuck in a start up loop, i have tried to set it back to factory settings but when it reboots it gets to the same place it got stuck at before i.e. loading windows then a blue screen then back to the beginning as if I have pushed a reset button , so i have bought a new drive the same size 250 gb to install what i want to do is copy the factory installation partition and just run that to get it back to where it was before I can see the old drive on my pc but don’t know how to go about copying the right files over to the new drive to get it working again , can some one with the knowledge please help :(

    You would have to do that with imaging software like Ghost/Acronis.

    i have both those but dont know what files to copy over

    Just image the old drive onto the new one. If your old drive is failing, files can be corrupt and it will be image corrupt files onto the new one.

    the problem is i have what looks like two parts to the drive a recovery part that i have copied over and one called os that i have not copied over if i insert the new drive in the laptop i get a message saying bootmbr is missing
