    Hey all,

My 17" lcd monitor that i use supports 1280x1024..but when i connect the vga from laptop to it..it only comes up at 1280x864 or something. But the 256mb 8600mb Gt card supports 1680x1050 so im confused.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Go into Display Properties and set your monitor to its native resolution...

In vista you do this by right clicking the desktop and hitting "Personalize" then "Display Properties"

Yeh the laptop is set at 1440x900 the native reso..but when i hook it up to the other monitor it resorts to 1280x864...so thats where im stuck, and i cant change the reso on the external monitor. Plus ive updated vid drivers and everything.

You don't see 2 monitors in Display Properties? If not try hitting FN+F8 or going into the Nvidia control panel and turning off "Clone"/"Mirror" mode.

Yeah i see two monitors..theres the plug and play one and then another one says default. But when i access the external monitor and try to change it to 1280x1024 and click apply, it automatically just goes back to 1280x864. Plus i cant leave my laptop resolution at 1440x900. Lol is confusing.
