    Hi,

just wondering if anyone owns an inspiron with this processor. What kind of performance should be expected? i just ordered one for my mum

    oh and the specs are:

    T2390 1.86ghz pentium dual core
    vista basic
    2gb ram
    bluetooth
    120gb hdd
    dvdrw
    internal modem
    3 year warranty
    webcam
integrated graphics and all the usual refinements

i paid ~724usd for it. Is that a good price?

We got a Toshiba here with the same specs (slightly slower but comparable processor, a T2330, 2gb ram, samen integrated graphics) and it's excellent for normal non-gaming use. :)

Vista runs really smooth and stable, no problems at all and browsing / office tasks et cetera work like a charm.

Its a okay processor for your basic user. More then sufficient for stuff like web browsing , emailing, word processing etc. It can definitely handle more then that just not as fast as say Core2 Duo chips. Anyone that plays games or does a lot with photos/video I recommend skipping the Pentium Dual Core lineup and going right to the Core2 series. Most of the time its not too much more to upgrade. You mainly see the Pentium Dual Core's on your budget friendly laptops.

i suppose in office and web tasks there wont be a noticable diff from c2duo anyway, am i right?

the only games she plays are those card games lol...

    shes upgrading from a 1.8ghz p4m inspiron 8200

this processor seems quite rare, i havent actually met anyone who uses it or seen any other laptops that use it...they're not phasing it out right? or are they using it for developing markets mainly (im purchasing it in malaysia)
