    Hello

I have a sister who has an Inspiron 1545 dell laptop.

After a couple of months, the battery started to not charge. I am told the charger is not compatible.

I have the exact charger the system says it needs.

I have done some research, and it appears that many people have this problem, however, if there is many people, there must be a solution.

I don't want my sister paying £100 for a new battery.

There are some solutions, I want to know if they work.

Resetting the charger, how do i do this?
Freezing the battery - Dose it actually work?
Buying a new charger, dose this fix the problem?
Buying a new battery, dose this fix the problem?
    What else could be done?

This problem can be caused by a number of things, easily fixed and not so easily fixed. Your charger could be broken, in which case a new charger will fix the problem. Your battery could be dead, in which case a new charger will fix the problem. The worst is that something is wrong with the power circuitry on the motherboard in which case you'll need to replace the motherboard, which can be a pain.

If you have another Dell laptop, it's easy to test the motherboard and the charger, but unless you have another 1545 or something compatible with the 1545 battery, that'll be tougher to test.

If you're under warranty, though, you should let Dell take care of it.

As CommanderWolf has said, it could be many things. Easiest thing I would say is to speak to Dell - batteries carry a warranty just like the rest of the system.

I am curious though - you say many people have reported this issue yet I've read nothing on the matter in these forums over the months since the launch of the 1545?
