    inspiron 1558 touchpad has quit

    The touchpad and touchpad keys just stopped working, suddenly. A peripheral mouse works fine. Tried reloading touchpad driver - no go. Any advice?

    Have you tried a Linux live CD to ensure it isn't a driver issue vs hardware issue? Worst case, order a new palmrest.
