Keep using VGA, it's the best for your computer. However, what program are you using to watch videos?

I would recommend you use Media Player Classic Homecinema with default settings (EVR-Custom video renderer) for a video experience with no tearing whatsoever.

How much RAM in total? If it's more than 3GB, then you will need a 64-bit operating system to use it. However, why do you want more than 3GB of RAM? Most programs will run fine with 3GB of RAM.

Performance is mostly the same. Get Windows 7 if you like the interface.

Does the computer ever stop charging randomly? If it's fine, you don't need to replace anything.

Now for the performance part of view:

    1. Your 1720 is capable of running up to 6GB RAM, with x64 OS of course (see my sig) if you don't do any intensive photoshop work or running Virtual OSes, and you have not experienced any form of slow downs whilst running many programs at one time, 3-4GB is enough.

    2. I have also installed Windows 7 RTM on my 1720. It is fast, intuitive and very speedy with my Dual Hitachi 7k320 drives. (640GB total). To put it simply, it is fast.

    3. As far as I know, mine doesn't wobble. Does yours come out easily?
