    long story short:

    have lg/philips wuxga panel=59hz=no bf2.
aggressor prime on nvidia forum same problem Dell USA replace screen now 60hz=bf2 works.
i contact Dell UK they replace screen with same manufacturer=59hz=no bf2.

now Dell engineer scratching head and wondering if there are any other parts numbers for 60hz screens.

well ive read some threads on here and have found at least three wuxga 1720 screen manufacturers. one being lg/philips, the others samsung and sharp. well the samsung sounds crap by all accounts, so my question is does the sharp run at 60hz, as ill ask Dell to fit one of those.

All screens you have described runs at 59-60hz (And that goes generally for all laptop screens), and I think you need to refine your words as I still don't quite get what you're really saying. Saying that the Inspiron 1720 "can't play BF2" got me thinking you got a graphics card problem but it doesn't sound it is so.

I played BF2 all the time and it was alright. Yes I know, BF2 can be a pain in the arse when it plays at 59Hz but it can be fixed with a simple fix. Look it up.

PS, and the Samsung isn't crap. It's crap to some people because they like to see punchy live like oversaturated colours. The fact that it has the lowest saturation of the rest and therefore the colours are accurate, it's best suited for photo editing and workstation purposes which I will not go into discussion here as it involves a different theory altogether.

essentially bf2 wont run at 59hz on vista. it runs on xp fine, as xp gives you the option of both 59hz and 60hz. peoples comments on the samsung were that it was grainy and had sparklies, whatever they are, i have a samsung le40a786 as my tv, it has led zone dimming, and on a 1080p feed looks amazing. so i dont not like samsung, but i know some of there panels are better than others.

well according to the Dell tech support i spoke to just now. they have replaced my LG/Philips screen with, wait for it, another 59hz LG/Philips screen, and said thats it there not going to do anymore as the system is working as intended, and the fact it wont run those games is just tough luck.
