Hello,
I have the dell inspiron 6000 laptop for 3 years now.
Yesterday, i had to run it on battery instead of power and my laptop went on standby when the battery was dead..Since then, eventhough i'm running on power and the battery is fully charged, the battery icon keeps blinking in orange, it usually does that only when its about to die.
And just today, the power icon on my taskbar shows 98% all the time although i've been using power for hours.
What does this mean and is there a way to fix this?
Thanks.

The battery might have experienced a fatal failure. Download quickset from the drivers site of your system and press FN+F3 it will show the battery health meter

I had a battery that would drain from around ~60% all the way down to 10%, and when I charge it, it would skip from 30% to 100%. I bought a 9 cell since then, and it's been working great. If the battery has some sort of circuit in it, chances are that it has failed, like the above has said.

I have a similar problem. My Inspiron has not been unplugged from AC power for near a month. This a.m. it began flashing orange in the power source light, along with an occasional green. The meter from the task bar shows 100% charge. Bad battery? Bad charger? Bad indicator lignt? How do I diagnose?

My previous laptop was an Inspiron 6000 which i had for 4 years and the battery indicator flashed orange becuase the battery was "end of life". Are you sure your battery is not in this state? If so its time for a new battery or better yet a new laptop. The reviews that users have given for the Dell Inspiron 6000 battery are very bad!

IMHO if you have the money, do yourself a favour and dont waste it on a new battery for an obsolete laptop, spend it on a new laptop! -
I think you 'd better try a new dell inspiron 6000 battery, dell battery can run for 2 years normally. and your battery out of waranty. However some software setting may cause this problem.
