now i know that dell's consistancy of build quality on the inspiron line, but i was comparing my 6000 to my friend's 9300 and i noticed that the tightness of the latch between the screen and the body is much looser on mine than on his. as opposed to the immovable solid, precise, latch on the 9300, my 6000 gives a bit ~.5mm? but it's enough that my ultrasuede keyboard cover slips out. i think i might just be paranoid but is there a way to open up the bezel for the screen and tighten the latches?

I'm not sure if you are talking about the latch or latch hooks. If you are talking about the latch hooks, they are plastic that isn't even screwed in to your laptop so there really isn't any way to tighten them. If you are talking about the actual latch, it is attached by a spring, but I'm not sure if you could adjust that or not.

Here is a guide on how to take apart your display. If you scroll down to the bottom you'll see how the latch is attached to your laptop: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6000/en/sm/display0.htm#wp1006390

sorry about the ambiguity, i meant the latch hooks themselves dont latch it as tight so that the rubber nubs on the bezel make contact with the body all the time, they can be lifted up a bit
