got my 9400 few weeks ago, and I think I've got a problem with my LCD, when set background colour to BLACK I don’t have black colour, it looks to me like LCD got something like extra light installed at the bottom of the screen and top as well, it appears like fog on the screen. I've got "17" UltraSharp™ Wide Screen WUXGA (1920 x 1200) Display with TrueLife™" and as far as I can say, comparing to VAIO or Toshiba Qosmio, it looks bad.

You are going to have light leakage no matter what screen you get. That's just the nature of LCD screens. If it is so bad that you can't stand it then you need to contact dell for a replacement. Chances are that if you don't use a black background, then you aren't going to notice it very much.

Yes, compared to other manufacturers the truelife screen isn't as good of quality, but alot of manufacturers don't come anywhere close to the VAIO.
