    inspiron 9400 screen quality

    hello all, just bought this as my first laptop and find the screen display very dull, can i brighten this up any and if so how? i never recieved a users guide, thank's for your help.

    I don't know whether or not your display is turned down or not--but hold the fn key and also use the up and down arrows. If your laptop is on battery power, it will automatically go to 1/2 brightness. If you mean contrast rather than brightness, you'll have to use Adobe Gamma or powerstrip or some utility that lets you adjust the gamma.

    sorry but i am new to all this, when you say the fn key which one is this? and thank you for your reply.

    It will be the black key with blue lettering. It is to the right of the control key on the left-side of the keyboard. Hold it and use the up arrow at the same time.
