i've had my 6000 for a little over a week now and the LCD screen hinge is already starting to loosen up/wobble, much like any laptop i've ever used. it's not a matter of abuse - i treat my laptops like they're my own children.
is the hinge something that can be retightened, or is opening and closing these lids a destructive process?

you can tighten the screws. Here is the guide:
https://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6000/en/sm/index.htm
Follow the steps for the hinge cover, and tighten the screws there first. If the lid is still lose, then use the directions in the display assembly. You'll need to remove the bezel, and there are a few screws that you can tighten there. You don't need to remove the actual display or anything like that.
Removing the bezel can be a bit tricky, just don't use any sharp objects and don't try to force it. You just have to wiggle it and pull it to get it off.

i shouldn't have any problem getting to it, i've dis/reassembled plenty of laptops.
