ok, so i got an inspiron e1505. thing is great. however, the LCD lately has been giving me a weird issue.

it first started out with a backlight issue. unplugging and plugging the cable on the mobo back in would resolve this issue. since then, that issue has not persisted.

now, however, when i open the LCD, there is a blue line on the left hand side of the screen. sometimes it goes away, sometimes it stays on.

usually, when i run a program that changes the resolution, the line will go away. in particular, i play Wow alot on this notebook. when i run it, the line will usually go away.

i thought at first this might be a pinched cable. so i took apart the LCD casing and removed it from the bottom part of the computer (the part that houses the motherboard). made sure no cables were pinched. even ordered a brand new inverter but never installed it.

    help!

Do you have an external monitor that you can plug into the computer? That will help isolate the problem to the monitor itself or to the motherboard/GPU.

Sounds like your vid card could be going bad. Is it overheating? What are your temps?

notebook has a fan on it at home when i do extended gaming. this issue happens as soon as the notebook boots up.

basically, anytime i mess with the hinges that line either goes away or gets slightly brighter. if i keep tapping it on the top left part of the plastic surrounding the LCD (light tapping), or the left side in general, the line will go away after a few taps.

the line is on the left hand side. will take pix when i get home, as well as a video
