I have had this laptop for a few years and have not had any problems- but am finding myself having a problem with DVD burning. I have no problem burning CD's or playing audio CD's or DVD's or even DVD burned movies.

I am trying to use Memorex DVD-R 16x DVD's- I have tried using Roxio, Windows Media Player and the default Windows program (I am on Vista)- and each time it looks and acts like it is burning the DVD (it even appears to be written on on the back) but it just appears blank in my computer as well as on other computers. I have used these DVD's fine on a different computer, so I am not sure if I am doing something wrong on the laptop or if the laptop and these types of DVD's are not compatible. (I know the obvious thing would be to try different DVD's- but I would like to see if I can use these since I already bought them :) !

Thanks for any and all input!

Sounds like the DVD drive could be going bad; luckily with blu-ray now on the market, DVD burners have gone down in price (a respectable, reliable brand can be had for ~30 dollars on ebay)
