Hi, today i went to a kiosk and ordered an e1505.

i was playing around on the site, and under sound options, it listed: none, integrated, and hd.

the rep left it at none. so does that mean that my lappy wont have any sound when i recieve it?!?! if so, what can i do?!?!

kinda panicking, i panic real easily too! lol

any help would be greatly appreciated!

You will have sound, integrated audio. Even the HD audio is integrated. The "HD package" is actually software released by soundblaster to give the speakers a richer, fuller and louder sound. many people don't like the somewhat deceptive marketing Dell uses to sell a software solution, but others often feel that it actually makes a big difference in quality. Don't worry, you will have soudn when your laptop arrives, I actually find the e1505 speakers to be good for laptop speakers. If you desire more audio fidelity you will have to turn to a USB-based soundcard solution as currently (AFAIK) there are no express card options

    cheers

Its pretty good quality too, I've hooked up a USB High def sound card and I was surprised how well my built in sound compaired, it wasn't as good but it was pretty close.

A question, what's the difference between the "None" and "Integrated Sound" options then? Or is there no difference at all? I remember seeing those 2 options as I ordered my own 6400 /e1505, and thought to myself "Hey look, an option for sound for $0. Why would I take no sound when I can get sound?"

doubtful... they can't remove something that is integrated on every E1505.

maybe they simply don't install the sound driver :D

but yeah don't worry the sound is integrated on the e1505 motherboard. SoundBlaster HD is actually just a software package. That's the only thing that I was 'lured into' buying by Dell, but then got my money back eventually. I am not using this software, because I don't want it to conflict with my already-installed SoundBlaster software for my external Audigy 2 NX.

the sound chip is part of the system board, its not an add on unless theyve changed mobos, I wouldnt worry about it, sound is a standard feature on all modern notebooks, and has been for quite some time
