    hi..i'm planning to get dell's inspiron 6000 laptop with the built in video card thingy which says shared 128mb memory..will this shared memory take up my main memory? say i choose 512mb of main memory n 128mbof intel's video card..how much of my main memory is left?

    Be clearer on what you're getting. You say "video card" but seem to mean "integrated graphics." Are you getting a dedicated video card (ATI Mobility) or are you getting an integrated graphics chipset (Intel)?

    If that's the case, then the integrated video RAM will be taken from your overall system RAM. In your example this means that out of the 512MB system RAM, 128MB will be automatically allocated to video RAM leaving the system with 512-128=384MB of RAM to use for non-graphical processes. Hope that answers your question.

    DMB14 ... you suggest integrated memory performs poorly in graphics, but you are using it spite the fact.
    Overall, does it work ok ... i.e. motion pictures / movies?

    Overall, would you say it works ok though, i.e. motion pictures / playing movies?
