    I reinstalled windows on my laptop(studio 1558) and when browsing the drivers, came across the intel turbo boost technology driver.

    My question is - Is it needed?? If yes, should I install this driver(1.0.0.1030) or the latest version(1.2.0.1002) which I found on the internet??

    On my 1558s, the driver tells me that it isn't needed when I try to install it. The separate Turbo Boost Monitor package installs the desktop gadget which you might want.

    @Terry Kennedy
    You must have a quad core i7(clarksfield). This driver is supported only for arrandale processors

    Yes. But when I restored a backup image from a 1558 w/ i7-720QM to a different 1558 w/ i5-450M, the Turbo Boost Monitor desktop gadget worked fine without installing the driver.
