I have been plagued by an error w/the intelppm.sys driver on my new Inspiron 6000. Dell says it is due to a driver I installed even though it has happened right out of the box. I have run Windows XP repair and chkdsk /r to no avail. Some days are better than others, but I average about one crash per day.
Thoughts?
Thanks,

I have XP Home w/SP2 as preloaded software. Can I still roll back the driver since I never had SP1 on the machine.
Thanks,

You probably have to search the web for the older version. Have you been to windows update lately? It might help.

Yep, checked Windows Update but it hasn't been a big help so far.
Thanks though.

Looks like you might have a problem with the Intel chipset drivers. Try going to the Dell Support site and downloading and installing this;
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/type.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dfh&SystemID=INS_PNT_6000&category=0&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=1134&devlib=27
If that link doesn't work, go the Dell Support site and click on the Inspiron 6000, and select all downloads for Windows XP. You should be able to download the Intel Mobile Chipset, v.6.1.0.1008, A07.
Let us know if that works.

Thanks. I uploaded the files with no problems, but the computer crashed several times the next day (same error). Do these things make good frisbees?!
