Just got a new Dell Inspiron to replace a 4 year old model that has some issues.

My old Inspiron has a 19.5 volt 4.62 amp power supply.
The new Inspiron has a 19.5 volt 3.34 amp power supply.

I know you can safely use a weaker power supply, though it may not charge while running the laptop...but any thoughts on using the 1.3 amp 'stronger' supply in my new laptop?

I am interested in opinions...not the blue smoke of death :)

As long as the machine doesn't warn you about the adapter being too weak, it should work with full functionality.

You can use the higher-rated power supplies, too. The laptop will only pull as much current as it needs.

Yup to what Commander_Wolf said. The 90 watt will work with a machine that only is rated for 65. I don't recommend the opposite though.
