Hi, I recently got my m1530 and when I connected to the internet, it said I got limited access and I still cant browse through any websites. I set my gateway firewall to the lowest setting so basically that should not be the issue. Anyone have any idea on a fix? Thanks.

It's your router. I have a Linksys and it's sort of unstable -- I went to their website and they said the best place to put it is high up and mine is on the floor. I have to try moving it, but I haven't done that yet. Thus far, my solution is to unplug the router and plug it back in, which resets it and gives me full connectivity. Primitive, yes. Effective, yep.

This happens with my m1530 too. The internet works fine with ethernet but says limited connectivity with wireless.

Already tried reseting my router to factory settings but still has the same problem. Any ideas?

May be your wireless driver? Try to uninstall and reinstall the driver again. I used to have that problem before.

It happens only on your wireless not on your NIC card right? The reason I asked because it it happens only on your wieless, it isn't your router or ISP problem. It must only be your wireless, and it still think it is a driver issue. It may be some of your softwares interfere with you Intel driver. I know for a fact that MS netmon will disrupt your wireless connection.

What wireless card do you have? There have been reports of the Dell cards having problems.

Have you tried moving closer to your wireless router to see if it improves?

Have you tried changing the settings on your card or your router?

Does it do the same thing on different bands?

There are many reasons that you could be having this problem. You might also right click on the Wireless Icon in the task bar and select diagnose and repair.

I put the laptop about 1m away from the router and still the same problem persists.
I have the intel wireless a/g/n card in my xps. Reseted the router to factory standards and removed all encryption keys but still the same.

I think it might be something wrong with the router as none of my other notebooks work but not 100% sure. (its a Netcomm NBW9)

Have you plugged a cable directly into it and try accessing the setup functions on the router?

I have the Intel card and I pick up a good signal from three of my neighbors' routers. Have you checked the properties on your wireless card? Make sure that it is set on the highest Transmit Power, Throughput is Enabled, Roaming is set to Highest, Power Management is Disabled.

Yes i have plugged an ethernet cable directly into the router. When i do this the internet connection is fine.

With my wireless, i can find my neighbors' routers too. My wireless will have the same or less signal strength compared to my neighbors signal strength.

Everything on the router is set to its highest capacity.

Check the card properties on your computer. Make sure that it is set at the highest transmit power and the correct bands--a,g,n

Just reformatted my laptop and it seems to have solved the problem. So it was probably a software problem.

Glad you got it fixed. It seems everyone was focussing on "limited access" as being a distance issue or something when I'm sure it was a Windows or networking setting/software issue with allowances or something.

    A setup or configuration issue.
