    Hey guys,

I read in the dedicated thread for studio1555 that the 720p resolution screen is quite bad. I was wondering if anyone had one of these laptops and could take a picture of how it looks? Is it all grainy and splotchy?

    Thanks.

No, it's just an average laptop screen. Similar quality as the lower res screens of HP, Acer and Asus.

If you compare it to a Macbook Pro 15", yes than you could call the Studio's screen bad.

Here's a full review of the screen:

There are 2 kind of monitor with the 1366x768 resolution.
The Samsung one, that i've never seen so i cannot rate...

I have the other monitor, that is an AUO (AUO20EC).
To me this one is quite good, not good as some picture of the 1080p i've seen in this forum, but has (for me) sufficient luminosity and viewing angles.
I'm absolutely not an expert in notebook monitor, so take my opinion not as THE TRUTH :D

Now i don't have a camera to take a picture...as soon as i can i'll take one if you want.

alright, thanks so much for the response guys. I'm not very picky with monitor quality, so really happy to hear it's "average". (lol didnt want to spend another $100 to upgrade screen)

And higher resolution = more lag in games/running apps right?

Games will run slower on 1080p vs. 720p in native resolution.
    Apps will run the same.

Yes, higher resoluton needs more powerful GPU to run games, but for applications and sotware i don't think that an higer resolution slow down the notebook...
...maybe it can drain a little bit faster the battey ;)

Edit:Hey Phil...you're always a bit faster than me!!

alright, so it looks like the 720p are fine unless I get the samsung produced ones. I'm crossing my fingers I get the AUO version. It depends on which dell site I ordered from right?

I'm using a 19 inch samsung monitor, and i hate the quality of it, and there's dead pixels =S

No even the Samsung is fine. The review I posted was of the Samsung.

For example: Brightness of 213 cd/m² is high. Illumination of 89 % is good. Contrast of 181:1 is average. These numbers don't lie, they're real world measurements.

There's a good chance the AUO has slightly higher contrast.

    Yeah I'm quick ;)

It's possible to play games at a resolution lower than your monitor's native, but visual quality is a bit lower.
